Privacy
Your forest is saved in your browser and can also be synchronized so the same forest code restores your latest state on another device.
Before synchronization, your forest state โ including journal entries, trees, memories and related settings โ is encrypted in your browser. Our server stores an encrypted data blob, an initialization value needed for decryption, a revision number and a one-way lookup value derived from your forest code. The forest code itself and your journal text are not stored by the synchronization endpoint in readable form.
Your forest code acts like a key. Anyone who obtains it may be able to open the synchronized forest, so keep it private. If you lose the code and clear all local browser data, we cannot recover the journal contents for you because we do not hold the decryption key separately.
If you choose to support the project, a random local forest identifier and the payment amount are used to create a Lemon Squeezy checkout. Payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. We store only the random payment forest identifier, order ID, amount, currency and payment status needed to reconcile support payments. Journal text is not attached to payment records.
